with 8 FOOT ORPHAN & SOME FRIENDS OF MINE:
Eugene’s Axe was formed in the fall of 2005 from the ashes of two successful bands, The Rising Tide and Dead Motor Pose. When The Rising Tide went their separate ways, drummer/singer Michael Roth and guitarist Charlie Nilan set out to start a more progressive sound, with an undercurrent of straight rock and roll. Chris Wilke, bass player for Dead Motor Pose, answered the call to complete Eugene’s Axe’s current lineup. With influences such as Pink Floyd, The Doors, Radiohead and The Mars Volta, Eugene’s Axe has come to the forefront of psychedelic rock and roll in the Boulder/Denver area over the last 6 years. The Highway Ghost EP was cut in 2006 at Immersive Studios (Boulder) and in 2008, the concept album Dead Planet was released in both CD and digital formats. Currently, Eugene’s Axe is working on their third studio effort under the working title “Eugene’s Lament.” 8 FOOT ORPHAN Members of 8 Foot Orphan bring together experience from a variety of musical projects from Boulder, CO to Austin, TX. With a common interest in various alternative rock styles, they emphasize musical creativity while keeping their style accessible to a wide range of listeners. SOME FRIENDS OF MINE Little is known about the origins or whereabouts of this band. There are many unconfirmed stories, loosely based on second hand knowledge, of various occurrences, mainly involving sonic deviation and aural amazement. There have been recordings recovered that neither confirm nor dispute the certainty of the many claims made involving these individuals and these incidents. Repeated field observation is recommended for achieving understanding of motives and methods applied.
