THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT In their first year as a traveling band, the Airborne Toxic Event played more than 200 shows. During one stint in November, 2008, they played 30 shows in 30 days in the United Kingdom, managing to visit just about every corner of the England, Wales and Scotland—even tiny towns like Stoke-on-Trent, Yeovil, Barrow-in-Furnace and Fife—places that most British bands don’t go. Word of their raucous show spread, and when the record came out in the UK in February 2009, it debuted in the top 40 of the UK pop charts. CITY AND COLOUR “I just wanted to make an honest record.” So says Dallas Green, otherwise known as City and Colour. He’s not really talking about confessionals (though that might happen, too) but truthfully incarnated music: organic songwriting, natural process and sincere moments captured in the studio. Captured—not manipulated. For his fourth LP, The Hurry and The Harm, Green not only wanted to present an honest album, but an honest version of himself. To do so, he had to leave some things behind, confront others and let the rest simmer. SAINTS OF VALORY The term “melting pot” simply begins to describe this group of long-time musicians. Every member of Saints Of Valory hails from a different country. Lead singer and band frontman Gavin Jasper is from Brazil, guitarist Godfrey Thomson is from California, drummer Gerard Bouvier is from France and keyboardist Stephen Buckle is originally from Canada. With 3/4th's of Saints Of Valory growing up overseas as children of missionary parents, their experiences & musical influences are vast to say the least. Saints Of Valory was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in late 2009 & the band decided to launch out of Austin, TX after experiencing SXSW 2010 & have since become one of Austin's top acts, all in one year's time.
